Updated Chevrolet SS "Blower Bomb" Looks Like a Hellcat Rival

Now that three years have passed since the retirement of the Chevrolet SS, let us aks ourselves: How will this long-roof speeder be remembered? We're talking about a delight of a car, but the initiative was far from having reached its full potential. Well, the rendering sitting before us comes to address that.

After an eighteen-year hiatus, Chevrolet brought back its rear-wheel-drive sedan by rebadging the Holden VF Commodore and this is how the SS was born, entering production in 2014.

The SS, which was animated by the C6 Corvette's naturally aspirated LS3 V8, also served as a successor to the Pontiac G8, which placed a golden bowtie badge on Australia's ex-generation VE Commodore, but was axed when the Pontiac brand was put to sleep back in 2009.

Alas, while the SS was produced for three years and the G8 rolled off the line for only two years, the first convinced 12,953 customers, while the latter had found no less than 41,000 印象彩票app下载s. Of course, there are multiple factors that influence such numbers, but we are now here to discuss the side that belonged to the automaker.

I've had the opportunity to review the SS and was more than impressed by the way in which this sedan juggled assets such as an engaging driving experience, as well as enough cabin space and features to keep the entire family happy.

However, the said reality is still far from the complete approach Dodge offers with the Charger and Challenger. So the SS never got to enjoy the ultimate spice that defines so many aspects of the Mopar duo, from styling and polishing of each and every go-fast aspect to a rich lineup and the marketing derived from all these assets.

As I mentioned yesterday, when discussing a similar rendering built around the Pontiac G8, the bits and pieces mentioned above can make a difference between a good product and a range that develops a symbiotic relationship to the car culture in our hearts.

Returning to this pixel effort, a smartphone edit coming from digital label Tuningcarps, it portrays an upgraded incarnation of the Chevrolet SS.

Now, Chevy did offer various updates during the three model years of the SS, with these ranging from an optional six-speed manual and a dual-mode exhaust, to multiple safety and convenience features and even fresher styling cues.

However, this rendering doesn't just take the design one step further, but also makes us dream of a supercharger - that is the effect the Camaro ZL1 front grille has, at least on this mind.

Oh, and that tongue in cheek SRT badge addition is probably there to remind everybody this is a visual exercise rather than an actual car.
